- American Management Association – Offers a print-based Grammar and Proofreading course. $139 US.
- Australian College – Queensland-based school offering a number of editing-related courses with an Australian slant, including:
- Professional Book Editing, Proofreading, and Publishing – Results in a Diploma of Publishing (Professional Book Editing, Proofreading & Publishing) upon completion. Have up to 5 years to complete it. $1295 AU.
- Freelance Magazine Writing & Editing – $995 AU.
- National Editor – Results in a Diploma of Editing (Publishing). $2295 AU or $939-$1252 if you’re upgrading from the Professional Book Editing, Proofreading, and Publishing course.
- Copy Editing & Proofreading – $995 AU.
- Australian Grammar & Punctuation for Professionals – $495 AU.
- Cengage Education – Australia-based school offering a distance education certificate course in Professional Editing and Proofreading. They also offer a number of other journalism-related courses as well as courses in other areas.

- Proofreading and Editorial Skills (£255 for non-EU, non-UK countries)

- EditorialCourses.com – Offers online courses in the following:
- Introduction to Proofreading – Free, 1.5 hour introductory online course.
- Essential Skills for Proofreaders – Based on the Chicago Manual of Style. Used to cost $279.99 (US) but they’ve reduced the price to $159.99 (US). (They also occasionally have a special sale so always check their home page before registering.) They estimate it should take you approximately 60 hours to complete the course but you have 90 days access to it.
- Essential Skills for Copyeditors – Still under construction, but they expect it to cost $149.99 when released. (If you pre-register, though, you’ll only pay $79.99.)
- Grammourpuss – UK-based business offers an online course in proofreading. Cost is £35 or ~$70 for one year’s access to the course materials. Access can be extended for £5.
- McMurry – Copyediting – Offers modular, self-paced program in copyediting. Each two-hour module is $50 US.
- Mediabistro.com – US-based site offering online courses including Intro to Copy Editing, Intermediate Copy Editing, and Advanced Copy Editing. Multi-week courses range range in price from $350 to $610 US. (less if you have an Avant Guild membership). Short on demand video seminars in a variety of topics are available for $15 to $29 US (for 30 days access).
- The Publishing Training Centre – UK-based education provider. Information about editing and proofreading courses offered, including the following distance education courses:
- Basic Proofreading (£385 or ~$775)
- Copy-Editing (£550 or ~$1100)
- Editorial Project Management (£485 or ~$975)
- Effective Copywriting (£385 or ~$775)
- Proofreading and Editing Training Online – PTC offers a free sampler online courses covering the fundamentals of copy-editing and an introduction to proofreading.
- Universal Class – Offers a Proofreading and Copyediting 101 course. $39.00 (US) for 6 months access, $64 (US) with certificate and CEU.
US Department of Agriculture Graduate School – Offers a number of paper-based, distance education courses, including:
- Introduction to the Editing Process – 1 year, paper-based course. Requires the Chicago Manual of Style and the Heath Handbook. $355 (US)
- Proofreading (with and without instructor support) – 1 year, paper-based course. $185 to $355 (US)
- Basic Indexing – 1 year, paper-based course. Requires the Chicago Manual of Style and Indexing Books. $355 (US)
- Applied Indexing – 1 year, paper-based course. $355 (US)
