  • ACS Style Guide – American Chemical Society
  • AP Stylebook – From the Associated Press. Available as a spiral-bound book or an annual online subscription for $25 US per user per year.
  • APA Publication Manual -
  • The Canadian Style – This reference book was produced by the Translation Bureau of Public Works and Government Services. It is offered in English and French (as Le Guide du rédacteur). Termium is a trilingual (English, French, and Spanish) terminology and linguistic database from the Translation Bureau that, in addition to its database, offers paid subscribers access to several writing tools including this manual. Government of Canada employees have free access to Termium through the government’s intranet.
  • Chicago Manual of Style – Offers the table contents and index for the manual as well as subscriber-only access to the full text of the print manual (a 30-day free trial is available), a searchable and browseable grammar Q&A, tools, and a PDF facsimile of the first edition of the manual from 1906.
  • Economist Style Guide Online guide based on the style book that is given to all journalists at The Economist.
  • The Guardian Style Guide (UK) -
  • Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publications – The latest version of the print manual is based on version 4.5 of the Compressed HTML Help, which is/was only available to Microsoft employees and partners. The book+CD-ROM version includes digital copies of the Microsoft Computer Dictionary and Microsoft Encyclopedia of Networking. Version 3 of the Compressed HTML Help version of the manual was offered as a free download by Microsoft when it was initially released. They’ve since removed the download from their site but it is still available for download from the personal site of a German technical writer (note: clicking that link will start the download of the actual .chm file).
